Air Quality Management

American Standard’s line of indoor air quality solutions ensures that your air stays cleaner and fresher so that everyone can feel right at home. Whether it’s greater humidity, air free of allergens or just cleaner, healthier air for you and your family, there are plenty of options when it comes to air quality management.

Air purification systems

When it comes to purifying the air you breathe, there are typically three options to choose from:

  • Air Ventilator – An air ventilator is a low-maintenance add-on component that automatically ventilates your air round the clock. Maintenance is simple due to the easily accessible slide-out filter. The air ventilator system can be installed wherever it’s most convenient, including the attic, garage or basement, so it’s out of sight, but not out of mind.
  • Air Filtration System – Whole-home air filtration systems deliver clean air and more of it. It’s 100 times more effective than a standard 1-inch disposable air filter and can be eight times more effective than the very best HEPA filter on the market. It catches particles down to .1 micron in size and may remove up to 99.98 percent of allergens from the air in your home.
  • Air Cleaner – Last but not least is an air cleaner , which is a heavy duty air purifier that fits in both tight spaces and in just about any positions. It’s an add-on air quality management component that efficiently uses less energy than a 40-watt light bulb, but may be 15 times more effective than a standard disposable air filter.

Improving indoor air quality

During the winter months, many homes experience extreme dryness due to the constant heat blowing into the air. A whole-home humidifier condenses water and automatically delivers the right amount of humidity into the air to reduce dryness and occasional static cling. A whole-home humidifier that works with your HVAC system can deliver up to 50% more moisture into the air when compared to a small room humidifier, plus it’s extremely quiet and you don’t need to worry about it running out of water in the middle of the night. However, just with anything else that requires and excessive amount of moisture, it’s important to remember that humidifiers require regular cleaning in order to reduce the risk of bacterial growth and fungus from forming and being released into the air you breathe.

Regularly changing the air filter on any HVAC is critical for its longevity, but it also helps your system work more efficiently. The purpose of the air filter is to trap unwanted allergens, dust and particles from getting into the air you breathe in your home, so it makes sense that when the filter is dirty, your air will also become dirty. Changing the filter on your air cleaner will greatly help you when it comes to improving indoor air quality.
